Job Title: Business Applications Administrator

Business Applications Administrator

 

The RAND Corporation is seeking a business applications administrator.

 

The successful candidate will:

 

  • Organize and document process workflows, service activities and formal test plans

     

  • Gather requirements from users, create specifications, and write code to support existing applications

     

  • Interview subject matter experts and technical staff to collect information, prepare written text and coordinate material

     

  • Develop, run and format reports

     

  • Write business use cases and test case documents

     

  • Perform a wide range of technical functions that call for the development and distribution of information, databases, and reports

     

  • Develop and deliver application user training to all levels of end-users

     

Work under immediate supervision of the information systems manager for the

  • research staff management and human resources departments

     

  • Work with several software programs (Visio, Visual Studio, Excel, PeopleSoft, Business Objects) to review, analyze, and evaluate business systems and user needs

     

  • Identify data sources, provide data flow diagrams and document the process

     

  • Receive customer support escalations from remote and desk-side teams for delivery and resource related issues.

     

Educational requirements: Bachelor's degree required in a related area

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Should have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures

     

  • Must be comfortable with multi-tasking and shifting priorities while staying on task for key project deliverables

     

  • Excellent communication with solid customer facing skills

     

Specific technical skills required:

 

  • Project management methodologies and work breakdown structures with demonstrated ability to complete tasks under deadlines

     

  • High-level understanding of database concepts

     

  • Technical experience required: application configuration processes and application test methodology, SQL, Visio, Excel, familiarity with VBA programming

     

  • Technical experience preferred: ASP, PeopleSoft, C# a plus; Business Objects; HTML; knowledge of other database software a plus.
