The Group Manager Assistant will provide support to the Pittsburgh-based Co-Group Manager of Policy Sciences and other research staff, as assigned. Major responsibilities will include coordination of the administrative aspects of the RSMD performance review process for the research staff; scheduling recruiting seminars, coordinating interview schedules and travel arrangements for RSMD job candidates, as well as assisting with the onboarding of newly hired research staff in the Pittsburgh, Washington, and Santa Monica offices; organizing, and maintaining personnel and project files; and, interacting with research staff to update databases. Will work closely as a team member with other GMs and GM Assistants located in both the Santa Monica and Washington offices and may be asked to provide back-up coverage to GMA colleagues, as needed. The position requires excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; must be able to demonstrate tact, courtesy and judgment in working with individuals within and outside of RAND. Must be able to work independently and remain calm under pressure in a demanding, fast-paced work environment. A strong sense of discretion is required in dealing with sensitive and confidential issues. Will also assist other research staff in various activities, such as coordinating information flow, preparing materials for distribution, completing and processing expense reports, reimbursements and other forms, handling and processing sensitive and/or classified materials, processing proposals, documents, reports, and files. Coordinates calendar of appointments, meetings, travel arrangements, and itineraries.
Education/Qualifications required: 3-5 years relevant administrative experience
Security Clearance: U.S. citizenship is required in order to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance.
Specific technical skills required: The position requires an advanced knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; knowledge of SharePoint, Access and web-based tools a plus.
