THIS IS A CONTINUOUS ADVERTISEMENT UNTIL POSITION IS FILLED.

PRIMARY DUTIES:  This is a highly responsible position that oversees the complete supervision, operation and administration, in conjunction with an external consulting Pathologist, of a medical laboratory in a large mental health hospital.  Responsibilities also include the supervision of five employees assigned to the department to include yearly performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, monitoring of leave and attendance, etc.  Responsibilities also include initiating and/or monitoring continuous quality improvement projects and indicators.

DESCRIPTION
This is work managing, planning, directing, or coordinating activities in such fields as life sciences, physical sciences, mathematics, statistics, and research and development in these fields.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
Schedules, directs, and assigns duties to scientists, engineers, technicians, researchers, and other staff.
Plans and directs research, development, and production activities.
Coordinates successive phases of problem analysis, solution proposals, and testing.
Prepares and administers budget, approves and reviews expenditures, and prepares financial reports.
Reviews project activities, and prepares and reviews research, testing, and operational reports.
Confers with scientists, engineers, regulators, and others to plan and review projects, and to provide technical assistance.
Provides technical assistance to agencies conducting environmental studies.
Manages all activities relating to state-owned forestry lands.
Manages all statewide forest fire-fighting activities.
Manages all activities relating to fisheries and wildlife management.
